The Institute of International Education says that India is still the largest source of international students in the USA with around 3,37,630 students enrolled in 2024. However the number of international students dropped by 7 percent in late 2025 and graduate enrollments fell by 15 percent because of uncertainty about immigration.
The F1 visa allows students to study time work on campus during semesters and do Optional Practical Training for 12 months after graduation, which can be extended to 36 months for STEM courses. EB2 and EB3 are still paths to getting permanent residence.

Australia has introduced a Genuine Student test, which focuses on whether students intend to study. Financial documents are being checked closely including where the money is coming from.
The costs have increased, with the Subclass 500 visa fee around AU$2,000 (which is around ₹1.1 lakh) making it one of the highest in the world. The fees for post study work visas have also increased in 2026.
However Australia is planning to allow around 2,95,000 students in 2026, which shows that there is still a lot of demand. Students can get post study work visas for 2 to 4 years depending on their course and location. Skilled Migration is still a path to getting permanent residence.
